New Year Brings Fresh Look, Feel and Slate of Events to TiE Rockies

Denver, United States, May 22,2018/ — TiE Rockies, the Colorado chapter of TiE Global, a nonprofit venture devoted to entrepreneurs in all industries, at all stages, from incubation, throughout the entrepreneurial lifecycle, today announced a new board of directors, including a new president, Patrice Barber. The board has grown to 14 positions from eight previously.

In addition to Barber, TiE Rockies’ new board of directors is comprised of:

-Bhawnesh Mathur, board chair.

-Keith Larson, global board trustee and liaison.

-Jeff Mettais, Propel accelerator program chair.

-Komal Goyal, Women of TiE chair.

-Jeff Schell, community partner chair.

-Kristine Shaw Quine, marketing chair.

-Steve Bradley, economic development chair.

TiE Rockies is hosting a full calendar of events this year, including the Propel Pitch Competition on May 30 at 5:00 p.m. in Denver. Seven startups, many of which are post-revenue, will have the opportunity to pitch their business to investors that represent both national and global funding sources. Attending members and guests will select a winner from the Spring 2018 Propel cohort. The winning team will receive access to the mentors and other TiE programs for a full year and is eligible to compete in the regional and/or global competition. Anticipated investor groups in attendance include: Beirstadt Investor Group, Peak Investors and IDEA Fund. Companies competing in the Propel pitch competition include:

“Today’s entrepreneurs require diverse mentorship with a national and global focus by individuals from a range of different industries,” said Patrice Barber, president of TiE Rockies’ board of directors. “TiE Rockies is proud to provide the mentoring, networking, education, and funding for national and global access necessary to nurture Colorado’s next generation of entrepreneurs. In the last 10 years, we have welcomed over 500 local entrepreneurs to our formal mentorship programs, resulting in the support of at least one successful exit per year. We are now ready and excited to further increase our support of local entrepreneurs and to collaborate with the entrepreneurial community across Colorado.”

TiE was founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley by a group of successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives and senior professionals. There are currently more than 12,000 members and in excess of 1,800 charter members in 60 chapters, across 12 countries.
